Alternate Realities, Acrylic and Oil on panel, 36x36", 2021

Part of the Plasma Series. I experienced merging with a friend in 2018 and it was so joyful. Our fragmented, separate faces became one, as we looked into a sculpture by Mariko Mori. As I began painting these memories in 2020 the expressions became more melancholic altered by current events - the run up to the 2020 election when the country seemed in completely alternate realities. The metaphor of unification was hopeful to me.
